
Hold a two-year master’s degree or the equivalent in political science, or must have submitted his/her master’s thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline. It is a condition for employment that the master’s degree has been awarded.
The requirements are generally grade B or better on the master’s thesis and for the master’s degree overall.
Have good quantitative methods skills and solid experience with data collection, data management and data analysis.
Have an interest in comparative research designs.
Have the ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others.
Be proficient in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of Norwegian (or one of the other Scandinavian languages) is an advantage.
The PhD application must include:
A cover letter detailing a brief account of the applicant’s research interests and motivation for applying for the position. (1-2 pages)
CV
A research proposal (2-4 pages) outlining the research question(s) motivating the PhD research project, the main theoretical approach, the research design and the empirical strategy adopted in the project. The research proposal should also include a reference list of relevant academic sources. Admittance to the PhD-programme will be based on the research proposal.
Academic publications that you want to submit for assessment (including the Master’s thesis).
The names and contact information for two references. One of these must be the supervisor of the PhD thesis.
Transcripts and diplomas attesting the completion of the bachelor’s and master’s degree.
Relevant certificates/letters of recommendation.
