Requisitos

  • Master degree in political geography, international relations, political science, security studies, area studies, or related study programme. 
  • Documented experience (Master thesis or other publications/activities) with either foreign interference (broadly speaking), or regions under scrutiny within the INTERFER project Work Package 2 (Post-Soviet Eurasia and/or South-Eastern Europe). This experience should be proved either in the motivation letter or supplementary document. 
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English (equivalent of min. level B2). 
  • Knowledge of other languages is an advantage (in particular languages of the countries of PostSoviet Eurasia and South-Eastern Europe). 
  • The experience with fieldwork and qualitative research methods (interviews, thematic analysis, content analysis, discourse analysis) an advantage. 
  • The experience with qualitative data analysis tools and software an advantage. 
  • The experience with fieldwork in the countries of Post-Soviet Eurasia and/or SouthEastern Europe an advantage. 
  • Independent, responsible, and creative approach to work and study

Solicitudes: 

  • The admissions for applicants interested in doctoral studies financed by the INTERFER project will proceed in two steps. 
  1. Consultations with university INTERFER project coordinator and/or other INTERFER team members; the aim of the consultations is to develop a draft dissertation topic for the regular selection procedures. 
  2. Regular selection procedures for doctoral study program in Political and Economic Geography. 

For the consultations, submit the following documents to the university INTERFER project coordinator Vincenc Kopeček (vincenc.kopecek@osu.cz) by June 8, 2025: 

  1. Structured professional CV with an overview of professional and publishing activities. 
  2. Motivation letter of no more than 2 standard pages (3,600 characters with spaces). 
  3. Supplementary document proving required professional experience – if not included in the motivation letter.
  4. Scanned copy of the highest academic degree (MA degree required before star of the study, i.e., September 1, 2025). 
  • Selected candidates will be invited to an online consultation to discuss details of their application and dissertation topic; the consultations are tentatively scheduled on June 17, 2025. 
  • Selected candidates will be encouraged to apply for the doctoral study program in Political and Economic Geography. The deadline for applications for the regular selection procedures is June 30, 2025. The applications are submitted electronically. 
  • The documents required for the regular selection procedures to the doctoral study program in Political and Economic Geography are as follows: 
  1. Structured professional CV with an overview of professional and publishing activities. 
  2. The topic of the dissertation in the doctoral study program selected after prior consultation with the prospective supervisor (e.g., from the INTERFER team) and the coordinator of the study program (Jan Ženka). 
  3. Motivation letter. 
  4. An officially certified copy of a university diploma; each applicant must have successfully completed master’s study program; applicants are required to submit an officially certified copy of their university diploma no later than on the day of enrolment in the first year of study, i.e., September 1, 2025.
