• There are no absolute requirements for admission to the PhD programme. They look for promise of academic excellence in Political Science in the round. They admit both students with and without Masters Degrees, and with and without previous degrees in political science. They encourage applications from prospective students with a wide variety of backgrounds. 
• Regarding English language requirements, the programme follows the standardised requirements set by the Graduate Studies Office.

The doctoral programme is designed to impart substantive knowledge about politics, and to train students in the techniques, including quantitative methods, necessary to recognize, design and implement cutting-edge research. The writing of a dissertation of original research follows a rigorous training in how to design and conduct research. 

Four-year doctoral programme is designed to give students the highest level of training to become scholars at the forefront of the discipline.
